GE Lighting’s Cync smart home ecosystem is about to get a lot bigger. Not only did Cync announce a bevy of new products during CES 2022, but it committed to the Matter smart home standard, a protocol that will allow all smart home products to work together regardless of their manufacturer.
Matter is set to launch in the latter half of 2022 with support from Google, Apple, Amazon, Schlage, Nanoleaf, and other big brands. Once Matter is available, your Cync smart home products should become easier to set up regardless of which voice assistant you use, and they should gain HomeKit compatibility, assuming that Apple follows through.

As for Cync’s new products, its new Smart Thermostat is the most interesting. It costs just $120 but offers accurate, whole-home monitoring using individual room sensors ($30 each). Additionally, the Cync Smart Thermostat works without a C-wire, so it’s perfect for older homes.
Additionally, Cync is launching two outdoor smart security cameras. The new Battery Camera ($130) and Wired Camera ($100) feature 2K video, Night Vision, and optional local storage using SD Cards. Cync will also sell a Solar Panel ($45) to extend the Battery Camera’s life.
Cync’s new Smart Thermostat launches this month for $130, while the new Battery Camera, Wired Camera, and Solar Panel charger go on sale this February for $130, $100, and $45, respectively.
