Available today, the Polar Ignite 3 comes with a bunch of cool features and improvements, including an OLED display. But the most interesting feature focuses on your sleep, or more specifically, the way a night’s sleep can impact your day.
Previous Polar smartwatches introduced “Nightly Recharge,” a feature that plainly tells you when you should take a recovery day. The Ignite 3 takes things a step further with “SleepWise,” a daily report that predicts when you’ll be alert or exhausted. In theory, you can use SleepWise to plan your workouts, focusing on the brief window where you’re most alert during the day.
Plus, the Polar Ignite 3 introduces three highly-requested features; a 1.3-inch OLED display, guided voice workouts through the Polar Flow app, and multi-band GPS for more accurate location tracking. The latter feature is usually reserved for expensive products like the Apple Watch, so this is an interesting addition.
Spec-wise, the Ignite 3 is supposedly two times more powerful than the Ignite 2. It also has a maximum five-day battery life, which is quite impressive, and it weighs just 35 grams. The 20mm wristband is easily swappable, as it doesn’t use a proprietary latching system.
This is clearly an impressive fitness watch. That said, it lacks some “smartwatch” features that you may care about, such as contactless payments. (I’m not sure why fitness brands keep lacking in this area. To be fair, any additional features might make this watch more expensive.)
You can purchase the Polar Ignite 3 today for $330. That’s a lot more than you’d pay for a Fitbit, and it’s about the same price as a Galaxy Watch 5. Personally, I’d wait for the reviews to come in before pulling the trigger—we won’t know if the “SleepWise” feature is accurate until we can test it.
Polar 3 Ignite
The Polar 3 Ignite tracks your exercise, sleep, and heart rate. It can also tell you what time of day you my feel the most energized, which may come in handy when planning workouts.
