Everyone knows the pain of carrying around too many wireless devices. From your smartphone to your earbuds and everything in between, it can become too much. But now it seems that Huawei is looking to free up some space in your pockets with a smartwatch that doubles as a case for your earbuds.
Images posted to Weibo show the new smartwatch, dubbed “Huawei Watch Buds,” with the watch face popped open, revealing a container for wireless earbuds. A hands-on video posted to YouTube shows the watch in action, with a person opening the watch, removing the earbuds contained within, then putting them back and closing the watch.
Android Authority reports that the Watch Buds have a similar design to the Huawei Watch 3 and runs Harmony OS.
It’s an interesting concept that could potentially change how earbuds are marketed in China. There appear to be charging notches in the earbud slots, so the watch could keep your earbuds charged as well as give them a place to live that’s not in your pocket.
Huawei has confirmed a December 2nd launch date for the device in China, but there’s no word yet about when the Huawei Watch Buds will be available outside of Asia.
