It'll be "fully customizable," too.

The popular smartphone and earbud maker OnePlus announced that its next product coming soon is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard. Well, it’ll be a co-creator of a new keyboard In collaboration with Keychron.

It’s a bit of a wild move from a brand known for making smartphones, but the company confirmed the news on its official forums. As part of the new “OnePlus Featuring” initiative, where OnePlus aims to work with other companies to design new products, we’re all about to get a mechanical keyboard.

We don’t know much except that a new product is coming, and we’ll learn more details on December 15th. OnePlus will work with the relatively new brand Keychron, which makes some excellent keyboards.

In a blog post, OnePlus members mention that this upcoming mechanical keyboard will be fully customizable. Then, the company says it wants to combine forces to create a durable device, comfortable and built to handle any working requirements, even after long-term use.

By customizable, we assume the OnePlus keyboard will allow buyers to choose their switches and keycaps, but we’re not sure what else. Maybe we’ll get RGB backlighting, a 1-key with the OnePlus logo, and perhaps it’ll even play nice with OnePlus phones or the brand’s rumored tablet coming in 2023. We’ll have to wait and see.
