If you want to use wired headphones with a modern smartphone, and you don’t want to do so with a dongle, your options are rapidly diminishing. Here are the best phones on the market that still have a headphone jack.
The Best High-end Phone With a Headphone Jack: Samsung Galaxy S10

Samsung seems to be on the way to dismissing the headphone jack, like most of the other brands, since it’s gone from the newly-released Galaxy Note 10. But this year’s other Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S10, still has the headphone jack equipped. With hardware that’s still pretty close to the bleeding edge and three screen sizes (and price points) to choose from, it’s one of the best Android phones on the market, with or without access to your favorite wired headphones. The S10, S10+, and S10E are all available from major carriers, or sold unlocked at many retailers and directly from Samsung.

Samsung's Galaxy S10 series would be an excellent choice all on its own, but as a nice bonus, it also includes a headphone jack.

The Best Midrange Phone With a Headphone Jack: Google Pixel 3a

The Pixel 3 line didn’t win Google a lot of new fans, and for more reasons than the lack of a headphone jack. But the 3a and its bigger brother the 3a XL have gotten near-universal praise for bringing the clean Pixel software to a much lower price point. The 3a and 3a XL make do with mid-range processors and get rid of some flashy features, like wireless charging, glass backs, and a notched screen, but are incredibly solid phones nonetheless. And of course, they’re basically the only Android devices that can be depended upon to get regular OS updates.

Google's Pixel 3a and 3a XL beat out the standard models for value, still include that sweet first-party software, and come equipped with a headphone jack. Nice.
The Best Budget Phone With a Headphone Jack: Blu G9 Pro

We’ve been impressed with Blu’s offerings before, but the G9 Pro hits it out of the park. A gorgeous 6.3-inch body, flagship-style features like wireless charging and face unlock, excellent software and hardware highlights like a 4000mAh battery—at $250 ($199 if you buy early), it might just be the best value on the market right now. Oh, and despite all of those forward-looking features, it manages to keep a headphone jack on the spec list.

Blu's G9 Pro is a pretty good phone at any price, but for just $250, it's phenomenal
The Best (Small) Budget Phone With a Headphone Jack: Motorola G7 Play

If you don’t want a gigantic phone, your options are getting slimmer every year. The Galaxy and Pixel picks above all have smaller options, but if you need something affordable with a screen under six inches, the Motorola G7 Play is right up your alley. With a 5.7-inch screen, rapid charging, and basic water resistance, it has a lot of features that you wouldn’t expect from a smaller, cheaper phone. The camera is also a surprisingly good one at this price.

Motorola's G7 is a fantastic value, and its screen is "just" 5.7 inches. Yes, that counts as small now. It'll work with wired headphones without a dongle.
The Best Gaming Phone With a Headphone Jack: Razer Phone 2

Gaming phones are a fast-growing niche. If you want one with a headphone jack, right now Razer’s the way to go. The Razer Phone 2 is big and bulky but surprisingly understated for a phone focused on gaming. It has some of the latest hardware and super-clean Android software, all shown off with its crazy-fast 120Hz screen and dual stereo speakers. That’s a big plus, for the times you want to use your phone without headphones. The new glass back is compatible with wireless charging, and the flashy RGB light on the back can even be used for notifications.
The Best iPhone Option: None
Apple hasn’t released any new phones with a headphone jack since the iPhone 6S in 2015. And unfortunately, a four-year-old phone just isn’t a smart buy at the moment, even if it’s in good condition. Advancing hardware means apps and other features won’t work as well, even if Apple’s software updates are some of the best around. If you want an iPhone that works with your wired headphones, you’re just going to have to get a more recent model and deal with the dongle.
