If you’re tired of being too slow with your smartphone to snap that perfect picture, Apple’s new iPhone battery case for the 11 series features a dedicated button for launching the Camera app—whether your phone is locked or not.
Designed for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and Pro Max the new case has a built-in button that is positioned toward the bottom right if you were holding the phone in portrait mode and looking at the screen. And if you’re holding the phone in landscape mode, the button is situated where you might expect the shutter button to be on a regular camera. Pressing that button quickly will take a photo, while holding it for a bit will capture a QuickTake video. The button can also be used to take selfies, and it’s in a great spot for that too.
As if the camera button weren’t appealing enough, the case also has a battery built-in that boosts the phone’s battery life by 50%. And it features support for wireless charging. So when your iPhone 11 Pro is dead and you’ve exhausted the backup battery inside this case, you can toss both of them on a Qi-certified charger to recharge them. Apple notes that you’ll still know exactly how much charge you have left when using the case with intelligent battery status displayed on the Lock screen and Notification Center.
If you don’t have access to a wireless charger, the case can also be juiced up with USB-PD-compatible chargers. The case itself has a silicone-based exterior with a soft-touch finish and a soft microfiber lining on the inside that helps prevent scratches. Apple says the case is easy to put on and take off thanks to a soft elastomer hinge design. There’s also a passthrough port for connecting Lightning accessories such as the EarPods with Lightning Connector.
The Smart Battery Case with Wireless Charging for all three phones can be ordered from Apple’s store today for $129 and comes in three colors for the Pro: Black, White, and Pink (sorry, no green matchy-matchy for this accessory), and just White or Black for the iPhone 11.
