The Classic ‘Star Wars’ Podracing Game Comes to Switch and PS4 on May 12th

The Star Wars prequels gave birth to a treasure trove of merchandise, characters, and controversy. But we can all agree that the Star Wars games from the 90s and 2000s are classics. And come May 12th, we’ll have the chance to revel in our Star Wars Episode I: Racer nostalgia on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

That’s right, Lucasfilm is re-releasing Star Wars Episode I: Racer with modern, more comfortable controls. The game, which originally released for the N64 and PC in 1999, features 25 playable characters, upgradeable podracers, and a single-player campaign mode. It also supports split-screen multiplayer and LAN multiplayer for Switch gamers.

Lucasfilm will sell Star Wars Episode I: Racer for $15 on the Switch and PS4 game stores starting May 12th, 2020. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be coming to Xbox, at least not yet. In the meantime, you can download the fantastic choose-your-own-path Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy game on your Switch or PS4  for just $20. If you own an Xbox One, you can pick up the Jedi Academy (through backward compatibility) for $10.
