Super Mario Maker 2 is a fun way to pass the time. But the main downside to the “maker game” is that you create disconnected levels. If you built 30 levels, you have to pick them one by one to play them. Now, with Nintendo’s final update to the game coming April 22nd, you can create a whole Super Mario game, complete with an overworld view.
The latest, and final, update to Super Mario Maker 2 update arrives April 22nd, and it brings a host of new powerups, enemies, and a world maker. That last part might be the most exciting because it means you can string your levels into a full game.
You can customize and create each world, including what the path is, background elements, if the path goes over bridges and hills, and more. You can create a total of eight world hosting 40 levels. That doesn’t even approach the size of your average Mario game, but it’s still a decent sized game. Best of all, you can share your mini Super Mario game with friends.
In addition to the world maker, you’ll also get new powerups and enemies to add to your levels. A new SMB2 mushroom turns Mario into the Super Mario 2 Mario, which means you can ride on enemies or toss them or other items. There’s also a frog powerup, and new on/off trampoline surface.
New enemies include Mechakoopas, key chasing Phatos, and the Kooopalings. Each Koopalins has its own look, movement, and attack patterns.
The final update is free and arrives on April 22nd.
