Google Doodle, the ever-changing banner at the top of Google’s homepage, is known for its cute designs, educational slogans, and time-wasting games. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, today’s Google Doodle features a cute Honeybee game, along with some info on honeybee conservation.
The Honeybee game, which put me in a trance-like state for the last five or ten minutes, shows how a single bee (or person) can create positive change for an environment. It was developed with help from The Honeybee Conservancy, a group that educates people on the importance of honeybees and encourages conservation behavior.
Along with its educational resources, The Honeybee Conservancy provided a personal statement for Google Doodle by its founder Guillermo Fernandez. The statement includes a story of how The Honeybee Conservancy was founded, along with some everyday tips to help protect our bees.
Google is also launching a series of Earth Day GIFs. To use these GIFs, search for “GoogleDoodles” on Gboard, or Tenor GIF Keyboard. Google’s honeybee GIFs are also available on some social media platforms.
