‘Parks and Recreation’ Will Return for a One-Episode Charity Special

For seven years, Parks and Recreation entertained us with comedy and hijinks in the parks and rec department of a small Indiana town. Now, five years after ending its run, the show will return for a half-hour on Thursday, April 30th, at 8:30 PM ET. Like the rest of us, all the cast members will be self-isolated, which should make for some solid comedy.

The cast agreed to reunite to raise money for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. NBC announced the news in a tweet, featuring a video with Amy Poehler, who starred as Leslie Nope in the series.

According to NBC, the episode will follow Leslie’s attempts to stay connected with friends, as everyone self-isolates during the current pandemic. All the actors will film their sequences from home, which likely informed the plotline.

Along with Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, and Retta will reprise their original roles. NBC also says additional guest characters from the series will pop-up.

Parks and Recreation was among our binge-worthy picks for long-running tv shows, and it’s on Netflix until October. So if you haven’t seen the series yet, check it out now while you can. And if you have seen the show, join is in fond remembrance as we sing “10,000 Candles in the Wind.”
