Amazon’s Latest Blink Cameras Can Run for Four Years on Four AA Batteries

Blink Outdoor camera
Amazon

Amazon has updated its smarthome camera offerings with a part of new Blink models. The Blink Indoor and Blink Outdoor are $80 and $100, respectively. The battery life on both of these cameras is wild: you can get two years out of them with the standard two-AA battery pack, or an insane four years out of the $30 extended pack with four AAs.

The indoor Wi-Fi camera is fairly basic, with a standard wall mount available in the kit. It includes 1080p resolution, customizable alerts for standard and high-traffic areas, IT emitters for night vision, and a speaker and microphone for an intercom function. Naturally, it works with Alexa-powered speakers and smart displays for viewing and voice commands. The Blink Outdoor has all the same features, plus the typical water resistance and operating in both low and high temperatures (-4 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, -20 to 45 Celsius).

Both cameras work well enough on their own, with access from the Blink Home Monitor app, but Amazon would prefer that you subscribe to the $3 a month Blink Subscription Plan for unlimited storage for recordings. It’s $10 a month for unlimited cameras on the same plan. If you prefer to roll your own storage, you can plug in a USB drive to a Blink Sync Module 2 instead.

Both the Blink Indoor and Blink Outdoor are available for pre-order on Amazon now, shipping on September 16th.
