Rest Easy, the New Bose Sleepbuds II Pack Better Batteries and an Improved Design

Bose put its noise-masking Sleepbuds to rest after discovering unfixable battery problems in 2019. And while some customers were happy to get a full refund for their busted buds, others were disappointed to see their favorite sleep-aid discontinued. Now, Bose is accepting $250 preorders for the improved Sleepbuds II, which ship October 6th.

Unlike regular earbuds, Bose Sleepbuds play a series of pre-programmed tracks to mask external sounds. They don’t use any active noise-canceling technology, as Bose believes that “covering” noise encourages better sleep than eliminating noise.

The new Bose Sleepbuds 2 looks similar to its predecessor, but it sports an improved design that’s comfortable even for side sleepers. An updated antenna ensures that the new Sleepbuds hold a stable connection to your phone, and an updated NiMH battery ensures 10 hours of playback for a full night’s sleep. According to Bose, the new charging case provides an additional 30 hours of playback for the buds.

Controls for the Bose Sleepbuds 2 are available through the Bose Sleep App, which contains 14 noise-masking tracks and 15 “Naturescapes.” You can store up to 10 tracks on the earbuds if you don’t feel like messing around with the Sleep App every night.
