IKEA’s First Smart Air Purifier Hides Inside an End Table

IKEA Air Purifier
IKEA

This week IKEA debuted its new line of air purifiers that can remove particles like allergens, dust, pollen, mold, and smoke from your home, and one model is built right into an end or side table. Like most things from IKEA, the new Starkvind purifiers are affordable and minimalistic.

The company is releasing two different models, a floor-standalone air purifier and a side table model, which cost $129 and $189 and hit shelves this October. That said, to get all those “smart” features, you’ll need to pay for a separate $35 smart home hub. IKEA also offers air quality sensors for only $12.

While both the standalone and table-top air purifiers are fairly affordable, you’ll want to check out the side table model. It’s no Dyson, but you’ll get a three-filter system that catches most allergens, not to mention 99.5% of small air particles that measure less than 2.5 micrometers, including smoke and bad odors throughout your home.

Each purifier comes with five different fan speed modes to suit your needs and an auto-mode that changes speeds as necessary, thanks to the built-in air quality sensor.

IKEA’s side table smart air purifier comes in both a dark or light color finish and a chic minimalistic design that should match your decor. Find either model online or in a store near you starting in October.
