Lenovo launched its Smart Frame last year, and since then, it really hasn’t found the attention it deserves. Unlike other digital photo frames, the Lenovo Smart Frame connects directly to your Google Photos account, instantly placing memories on your wall in FHD quality.
One reason for the Smart Frame’s obscurity may be its price. The smallest 21.5-inch model (which is actually quite big) retails for $400. That’s a lot of money, especially when you consider that the Nest Hub, Lenovo Smart Display, and Chromecast all feature Google Photos slideshow functionality at a much lower price.
But today’s discount is quite reasonable. Lenovo is selling its 21.5-inch Smart Frame on eBay for $180—that’s a whopping $220 off the retail price. And while $180 isn’t exactly cheap, it’s about the same price as much smaller digital photo frames that lack Google Photos integration.
There’s one thing left to note here; Lenovo built a microphone and speaker into its Smart Frame, but has failed to use this hardware for anything. It’s possible that Lenovo plans to add Google Assistant smart speaker functionality to the Smart Frame in the future, which would be amazing, but there’s no confirmation at this time. I suggest ignoring the mic and speaker for now, as they may never amount to anything.
