One of the iPhone’s biggest faults, especially during a global pandemic, is that Face ID doesn’t work when you’re wearing a mask. And while many people get around this issue using the Unlock with Apple Watch feature, a bug has prevented it front working properly on the new iPhone 13. That’s why Apple is pushing an update to patch the problem.
Apple’s new iOS 15.0.1 update resolves a bug where Unlock with Apple Watch won’t work on iPhone 13. You can install this update by opening your Settings app, going to the General tab, and tapping Software Update. Your iPhone may take a moment to find the update, but it will eventually prompt you to perform an installation.
Apple has identified an issue where Unlock with Apple Watch may not work with iPhone 13 devices. You might see “Unable to Communicate with Apple Watch” if you try to unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask, or you might not be able to set up Unlock with Apple Watch.
To fix this issue, update your iPhone 13 device to iOS 15.0.1.
Along with its Unlock with Apple Watch fix, this update resolves a bug where the Settings app incorrectly displays that storage is full. It also prevents the Fitness+ program from triggering workouts during meditations—a funny bug, if I do say so myself.
Unfortunately, we aren’t sure if this update fixes some of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro display bugs. Some users report that their iPhone 13’s touchscreen is unresponsive, while others say that their 13 Pro doesn’t reach the full 120Hz refresh rate with some apps.
