Russ is a 20+ year veteran of the Information Technology industry and has been that "techie" for a multitude of people and organizations over the years. He holds several professional certifications including Microsoft Certified SharePoint Master and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. He enjoys freelance writing, mostly about technology, and is a published author.
His career began in the United States Air Force where he was a Command and Control Systems Specialist for the 2nd Space Operations Squadron, responsible for maintaining the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite constellation. The Air Force provided an opportunity for him to accelerate a software development career. In the early 2000's, he started to look beyond development and into Microsoft SharePoint and other Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions and really found his calling.
He would go on to specialize in extreme-scale content management solutions and become an industry expert in SharePoint and content migration technologies. These days, Russ is a Sr. Solution Architect for SkySync where he has the opportunity to work with some of the world's largest organizations as they integrate massive scale Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions.
Spending time with family and friends is high on the agenda for Russ. He and his wife take every available opportunity to go camping, fishing, floating and boating together. They are always on the lookout for opportunities to make memories with their two boys, who are nearly grown up and out of the house, as well as extended family and close friends.
In addition to his technical oriented hobbies (computer builds, smart home integration, video surveillance systems, home theater, pretty much anything that runs on electricity), Russ actively works to volunteer his time helping non-profit institutions that are important to him such as youth sports and religious organizations as well as the American Legion.
In his spare time, Russ is always reading, usually researching something. He is on a mission to be learning and gaining mastery of new and exciting concepts every day. Whether its latest kitchen gadget, golf technology, everything you need to know about 5th Wheel trailers, or the hundreds of configuration options for a new pickup truck (to pull the trailer), he will always be immersing himself into something new! He finds that being able to take that knowledge and write about it is a very fulfilling part of life.
